As true city dwellers and Canadians, Raveen and Suvin chose downtown Toronto as the location for their Indian Gatsby wedding. The sangeet (evening of song and dance) was transformed into a mela (fair) with henna stations, palm readers. While the next day at the ceremony, the baraat (the groom’s procession) included the traditional groom entering on a horse, with two additional horses for his brother-in-law and best man. The ceremony took place on a platform in the pond at dusk under the city lights, followed by a cocktail reception with a live band. The bridal party jumped in the water for the last song. The night concluded with a sparkling sendoff into an NYC taxi.
Raveen and Suvin hosted a Great Gatsby-themed reception the night after the ceremony. The affair was elegant and upscale but still filled with excitement, including a photo booth, a biography video of the bride and groom, party masks, a bongo drummer, and dancing late into the night. To keep with the golden Gatsby theme, every treat on the grand, sweet table was made with a little sparkle: cake pops, cookies, cupcakes, glitter doughnuts, rock candy sticks, popcorn, brownies, and more!
