Phototerra Studio is renowned for taking photographs worthy of awards and photographs that are characterized as pieces of art. Here is a glimpse of their work.

Jordana and Yalon., October 10th, 2010.

Jordana and Yalon were introduced to each other 6 years and 6 months before their wedding day. For their first date, they decided to go to the old port of Montreal. The old port was also the place where Yalon proposed, while on a paddle-boat ride. So the decision to get married in the old port came naturally and the date was set for the 10th of October 2010!!

The inspiration for the style and the event design came from simplicity and elegance of all things beautiful. Jordana’s ivory silk dress was the creation of Sposa de Gio. Dorine Tal, the mother of the bride, is a shoe designer for “Olivia Rose Tal” in NYC. Dorine added a personal touch to Jordana’s shoes: a taffeta sash that wrapped around the ankle.

On the day of the wedding, simply beautiful and elegant Jordana, met her husband Yalon at the Westin hotel in the old port. The moment, Jordana remembers as the highlight of the day!

When Phototerra studio first met Jordana and her parents, the decision to work together came naturally and instantly. Daria Marchenko was the principal photographer of the event. Daria’s work perfectly matched with the style and personalities of the couple and as Daria says: “It was a joy to take part in the wedding of Jordana and Yalon.”

Some call it Karma, some Basheret, but at the end of the day, these photographs wouldn’t be possible without the love of Jordana and Yalon, their true essence is portrayed in these images forever.

The beginning of our journey

The beginning of our journey

July 12, 2011

After a week-long of lengthy emails to each other, we knew that we had fallen for each other without even having heard one another’s voice. Then began two months of exciting and romantic phone conversations which led to a long awaited weekend, when we finally met. We had a lovely dinner on our first date, but both felt a little awkward conversing and felt our first meeting was not exactly what we expected! Later that night, during a phone conversation, we both returned to our comfort zones and had an enjoyable and memorable conversation. We came to the conclusion that we both had high expectations for our first meeting. We decided to continue with our plans for the weekend and keep it light and fun. As the weekend progressed and we became more comfortable in person, we knew our lives would be incomplete and dull without each other. After a few more months of courting, Naveen proposed at the top of the Eiffel tower in Las Vegas on my birthday. From that day forward we started to make our dreams for a grand and royal fairytale wedding come true.

It was important to the both of us that the day be magical, down to the last detail. The biggest challenge was planning and coordinating 10 different events in the coming year, given that I was living in Toronto, and Naveen was in Connecticut.  Things started to flow and fall into place once dates were finalized and venues were booked. Vibrant colours and multiple themes were decided for each event and we knew that finding a photographer that provided something more would be most critical. We wanted someone who would not only capture memories for all time, but also fit the vision of our wedding day.

The moment we met Maggie and saw her creativity, we knew Maggie is all about spontaneity, sophistication and enjoying all aspects of life, especially those that are most memorable. Every picture she takes has a story and every story has a smile or a tear of the love we share for each other.

Each event leading up to and including the wedding day was approached with genuine passion and dedication. Maggie was full of energy and eager to photograph all the lovely colours and the sparking emotions ensuring that we have all our precious memories captured in a creative fashion. Her outstanding attention to detail and lighting in both candid and guided shots made everything look immaculate and stunning.

Maggie made taking pictures fun and memorable. We felt comfortable with her every step of the way as we knew that our photos would reflect our personalities at their best.  We were extremely impressed with her creative style, artistic vision, and most of all with the end result – the wedding album!  Her albums are exceptionally beautiful and the work she puts into them are incomparable.  We’re so thankful to have found Maggie. She has left us with unforgettable memories that we will cherish forever.

Having Maggie as part of our ‘I do!’ experience is just the beginning of our journey…we look forward to having her capturing many more elegant and timeless moments!

Shirin Jalini + Reza Nasirzadeh Wedding Date: Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Reza and I met in 2002 through his brother, who was one of my friends at the University of Toronto. We kept seeing each other around, at parties or at the library, but didn’t actually start dating until a couple of months later. Neither of us thought it would last very long because, on the surface, we were so different. We listened to different music, went out to different places, and our friends definitely did not get along. Somehow it worked out and three years later we moved to Kingston, where we both started medical school. The proposal happened during our third year at Queen’s. It came as a total surprise to me. Reza had teamed up with my roommates to figure everything out; from the type of stone I liked to my actual ring size. On that day, I had gone for pre-dinner drinks with some co-workers and came home to find my room lit up with candles. There were pictures of the two of us from earlier years along with a letter he had written to me. As I finished reading, Reza walked into my room with the ring and proposed. I was so shocked and confused that it took me a while to really understand what was happening. That night, after we came back from dinner, our friends hosted a champagne-filled surprise party for us. It was such a great way to celebrate. We got married the same week we wrote our licensing exam and graduated from medical school. It was a busy and stressful week but, on that day, all the nerves and the stress melted away and I was so relaxed. We had promised ourselves that no matter what happened on that day, the most important thing was to have fun and just be ourselves. Our wedding was everything we had hoped for and more, with beautiful settings, endless dancing, and really great company.

A Passion for Weddings

A Passion for Weddings

By: Anna Lombardos

Bridal designer Anna Chassidis started designing wedding gowns when she was a young girl. Her aunt owned an atelier in Hamburg, Germany where she grew up. From the age of three, her fondest memories take place in her aunt’s atelier where she began by making dresses for her dolls. This sparked an insatiable thirst for beauty and intricate design. “I loved hanging out with my aunt,” Anna told me with a smile. “She’d put me on her lap and I wanted to sew. I felt I was ready…until I sewed right into my finger.” Still, this never deterred her. Her journey led her to Montreal, where she now lives and designs her own exquisite wedding gowns. Dividing her time between Germany and Canada, Anna is full of life and creativity, offering clients a wedding gown that evolves from concept to reality.  She has a passion for the wedding tradition and enjoys working with brides on an individual basis. When I asked for a sneak peek into her latest collection; her latest inspiration? Flowers: appliqués, embroidery, beadwork, and all types of floral touches.

Weddings are about never-ending love, passion, and style—which is why so many couples choose to personalize every aspect of their special day.  With care and attention to detail, everything from the catering to the colour scheme adds to the overall experience. When I was invited to sample the work of Brahm Mauer, I saw all the possibilities. They take mixology to a new level. Aside from basic bar service, they’ve created an assortment of signature cocktails, including over 200 specialty Martinis. Each colourful drink had imprints of its own unique potential. Some were layered with bright colours; great to display at a drink station. They can complement some aspect of your wedding such as the distinct shade of your bridesmaids’ dresses. Others offered a splash of colour, a perfect complement to a specific wedding palette. Then there was the fabulous ‘Champ-tini’— wonderful for a champagne theme. When it comes to your wedding day, explore the world of signature cocktails.  Look for creative ways to turn your vision into colourful delightful, unforgettable memories.

Princess-style gowns are at the height of romantic allure; they continue to influence the wedding ritual. In the ancient times, when fabrics were hand spun, the quality of the material showed off the royal status of the person. Blue was considered to be the colour of fortune, faithfulness and prosperity. Perhaps this is why it’s resurgence in the wedding scene is so natural.  Other bright colours have their roots from ancient traditions and are still used today. Indian and Asian brides wear gold and red to symbolize luck and prosperity. This amalgamation of cultures, customs, and haute couture has brought the wedding gown to its ultimate beauty.

Heather+Steve: Married! Monday, June 13, 2011.  There was so much goodness about this wedding – an art gallery transformed into an Tuscan-inspired pseudo al-fresco setting; two families that were overjoyed to celebrate together; a party to top all parties.
